I don't know how to say this any simpler, but when giving a presentation, it is almost always a bad idea to wander into political commentary. I'm currently at a workshop, and the presenter has twice made political jokes. Now, while I may have found them funny, he should be aware that political comments - whether jokes or not - are almost guaranteed to alienate some people in the audience.

How amazing is it that 70-some-odd-thousand people went to see one man tonight? They traveled thousands of miles, paid untold amounts of money to get there, and then waited for hours – potentially days – on end. . . all to see one man.
