It’s difficult to be told you’re wrong. . . whether you actually are or not. But, now and then, it does more harm than good when you try to argue your case. You can come off as a know-it-all, as someone who just loves to argue, or as someone who has something to hide.

If someone wants to argue with you or reprimand you, but it’s nothing serious, just say OK and walk away. The more that I deal with people, the more I feel it’s necessary to let these things just slide by. I can’t spend all of my time explaining my thinking (if I was wrong) or arguing my case (if I was right), and hopefully, neither can you.

Picking your battles has maybe never been more important than today, when anyone can reach out from across the world and tweet, comment, post, or email that you’re wrong or stupid or whatever else. It’s difficult to just let go, but more than likely, it’ll be better for you in the end.
