Make Your Voice Heard

Courtesy of Jan Tik

When a child wants something, what does it do? It screams, cries, and/or bugs you until something happens, right? When you want something, what do you do? As an adult, you have the power to take action and make things happen.

  • Of course, you cannot do everything on your own. You might be able to start the next Facebook or Google on your own. You can definitely get your own dinner. . . even if you don’t have money, but what do you do when you know that the contribution of many others is necessary in order for anything to happen?
  • Tomorrow, America will pick its next president. Few would argue against the idea that both of the candidates would likely be good presidents. However, people obviously have their preferences. And, even if you don’t, you probably have issues that are important to you: taxes, social security, abortion, health care, militarism, etc.
  • Even if you do not care much about the men running for president, will you stand up tomorrow and make your voice heard? Your vote might seem unimportant, but look at it like this. . . my blog would be unsuccessful if you did not take the time to read it. It would be even less successful if a small percentage of my readers did not comment now and then. Their actions are but a small part of this success. I add my voice to their blogs, and all of these individual actions create changes, movements, and larger discussions.
  • Whether it’s in the election, at work, on your friend’s blog, or anywhere else, you have the opportunity to contribute to something greater than yourself, something that could not happen without the actions of many, many individuals. Will you seize these chances? Or, do you think your voice and your opinion are just unimportant?

Sorry, everyone, about all the political ads showing up here. I have to figure out how to adjust my ad filters. I do have pretty strong political convictions, and if you’re on this page, chances are that we share them, so if the political ads bother you, please keep in mind that I am trying to fix that.
