If you want something, do what it takes to get it
Too often, I find myself saying to people, “If you want to do that, why don’t you try?” How many of us have fanciful dreams of being a rockstar singer, going skydiving, learning a foreign language, dating that dream girl/guy, or something else that we just haven’t yet done? I bet you do.
Do you wish something were real instead of working to make it a reality? Do you fantasize about finally going to Italy, but are just too broke to do it? Stop wishing it were true and make your plans. Maybe if you actually pick a departure date and map out your trip, you’ll feel sufficient motivation to actually save money and then really go when the time comes. Is this something you could do?
How do you think Lance Armstrong is preparing for his return to cycling? He, like every other athlete, has picked a day by which he has to be ready, and now, the clock is ticking. He can either sit back and wish he was already in race shape, or he can get out there and work to make it a reality. You should too.
Pick something attainable, but important, and go for it. I always do. You should too.
